Paul Erickson founded Erickson Industries
in 1952 in the small Wisconsin town of Roberts.
In the early days, walk-in coolers
and freezers were built of wood with batt type insulation.
The company grew and flourished and, in 1955, opened
another facility in Laurel, Mississippi. This was the
first plant in the south to produce walk-in units. In
1956, Erickson Industries moved into a new facility
in River Falls, Wisconsin, and added new products including
egg coolers, milk coolers and reach-in coolers and freezers
to the product line.
.
As the food service industry
grew, new innovations were developed and Erickson
Industries led the way. Some of the products included
theKool-Rite self contained drop-in refrigeration
systems for commercial use, compact refrigerators
for hotels and motels, specialty equipment for
the soft serve ice cream companies and the use
of foam insulation to replace wood framing and
fiber insulation.
In the late 1960's, Erickson
Industries was called upon to develop and produce
a line of blood refrigerators used by "MASH"
hospitals in Vietnam and elsewhere. This led the
way to an expanded product line that now includes
laboratory walk-ins, which are sold to university
research departments and pharmaceutical companies.
Through the years, Erickson Industries
has teamed up with various companies to design
and produce many specialty items including special
reach in style cabinets for laboratories, ultra
low temperature units for vaccine storage and
custom walk-in units for pharmaceutical research,
production and storage facilities in addition
to its food service and food processing products.

Recently, Erickson Industries has introduced
its Sani-Clean Spray-On Plastic Coating, which is applied
after installation of the modular panels. It is an antimicrobial
coating which provides a seamless, crevice-free surface.
A spraying contractor visits the job site to complete
the application.
